About the role


The Diversional Therapist is responsible for developing, facilitating and evaluating the leisure and lifestyle program at Calvary Cessnock Retirement Community. The Diversional Therapist will design a program that will support, challenge, and enhance the overall wellbeing of our residents. Working within the house hold model of care, this role will be an advocate for empowering our residents to make choices and decisions to maximise their participation, engagement and quality of life.


What you bring  

-Demonstrated experience in planning, programming, coordinating and evaluating resident centred activity programs in residential, hospital or community environments
-Previous experience working in the aged care industry and/or working with residents with dementia
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the needs and interests of residents, acting an advocate for resident interests
-A compassionate and engaging personality with a good sense of fun
-A sense of innovation, initiative and creativity
-Ability to work in a team environment, providing leadership and guidance to staff
-Appropriate qualifications and/or experience
-Computer skills and experience including Microsoft Outlook and Word
-Current Drivers Licence
-Commitment to the philosophy, mission and values of Calvary
-Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to complete within 3 months of appointment
-Cert IV in Aged Care (Desirable)
-Member of Diversional Therapy Association (Desirable)
