About the role

 

This position is a two year project role to develop a clinical trials framework and grow clinical trials activity across Calvary Central Districts and Calvary North Adelaide Hospitals. A key focus of the role will be to provide support to medical personnel, especially in the oncology area, to engage in research relevant to their areas of clinical interest.  The Clinical Research Manager will be responsible for the efficient running of the trials units across both hospitals and the execution of trial specific activities such as recruitment and trial selection, facilitation of study start-up and negotiation of clinical trial research agreements with sponsors and ensuring that appropriate systems are in place to meet hospital and clinical governance requirements. The role will provide administrative research management services, including oversight of a range of day-to-day administrative and financial management functions, recruitment and development of staff, developing and implementing procedures and negotiating and monitoring budgets.

 

 

What you bring  

  • Experience in negotiating clinical trial budgets and the execution of clinical trial agreements

  • Knowledge of state, national and international medical research and health structures, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Sound experience in supporting or coordinating business or clinical functions within a medical research/pharmaceutical/hospital/paramedical, or other related environment, including managing associated projects and activities that ensure successful outcomes are achieved.
  • Experience in working with computerised information systems, and in working with computerised statistical packages, preferably within a clinical or medical environment.
  • A sound knowledge of confidentiality standards, medical terminology, records practice and procedures.
  • Proven knowledge of good clinical research practice.
  • Understanding of the health and medical research environment in South Australia and Australia.
  • High level interpersonal and organisational skills including the ability to foster good working relationships internally and externally with researchers and staff at all levels.
  • Proven capacity to communicate effectively at all levels, and to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including providing specialist advice and reports, undertaking consultation, and facilitating the achievement of positive business results.
  • Well-developed ability to supervise and motivate a team in a complex and challenging environment, the effective delegation and assessment of professional tasks, and ongoing review and development of work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under limited professional direction to achieve effective outcomes, including service delivery improvement and analysis and management of complex problems.
  • A current SA Drivers licence.
