Calvary's well regarded Emergency Department sees in excess of 58,000 patients a year. Calvary Health Care - Bruce provides services in mental health, cardiology, general surgery, urology, general medicine (with all the major subspecialties represented) and O&G.

Nursing staff are supported through a specialised induction program which leads into a transitional program, where post graduate emergency nursing study is encouraged. About the Role 

Calvary Public Hospital Bruce Emergency Department (ED) is seeking an experienced emergency nurse to join their dynamic multidisciplinary team, as a clinical manager.

Clinical mangers are responsible for the daily operational functioning and flow of the emergency department by providing direct clinical guidance to achieve a high standard of care through planning and co-ordinating patient flow, the continuum of care, assisting in the education and preceptorship of staff and students, providing leadership while liaising closely with other hospital team leaders.

You will also be responsible for one, or a combination of, the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards (v2) pertaining to the emergency department.

This role will be expected to provide patient information and education throughout the continuum of care to patients and their families, to use electronic patient information sources and other PC based systems to obtain general data and patient records.


What you bring

We are looking for a dynamic registered nurse who has an interest in the provision of quality care by:

  • Extensive demonstrated competence in providing direct patient care (for patients of varying complexity) utilising the nursing process, and incorporating a risk assessment approach while working within professional legislation and existing policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership of a large clinical team.
  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge pertaining to patient flow in an emergency department.
  • Ability to undertake shift work on a rotating roster.
  • Liaison, oral communication and negotiation skills of a high order. In particular, an ability to develop and maintain rapport with clients and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
